Agreement

These terms are an agreement between you and Nicholas Horton, an individual based in the State of Maryland, United States, operating Scent & Note in his personal capacity ("we", "us"). By creating an account or using the app, you accept them.

Who can use Scent & Note

You must be at least 13 years old to use Scent & Note.

The AI features (chatting with Pomander, the AI version of Today's pick, and label scanning) are for adults 18 and over. The app asks for your birth year once to decide whether to offer them. If you are under 18, or you choose not to say, you can still use everything else. Please give your real birth year.

Your account

Keep your credentials to yourself; you are responsible for what happens on your account. Give us accurate information, and email info@scentandnote.com if you think your account has been compromised.

Your content

The wears, notes, photos, bottles and To try list you add remain yours. You grant us the limited right to store and process them only to run the app for you - storing your photos, syncing your journal to your other device, and sending journal context to Pomander when you ask it a question.

Do not upload anything unlawful or anything you do not have the right to use.

You can export your journal to CSV for free, with or without Pro. We are not interested in holding your notes hostage.

Catalog facts you contribute

When you add a bottle, the house, the name, the concentration and the year you enter can join the shared catalog once three different accounts have entered the same facts. By entering them, you give us a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to keep those four facts in the shared catalog and show them to other users of Scent & Note. The licence covers only those four facts. It never covers your photos, notes, scores or anything else you write.

A fact that has joined the catalog stays in the catalog after you delete your account, with no link to you, because it never carried one.

Every shared catalog fact has a report button. You can report a fact as wrong, offensive, a duplicate, or for another reason. A fact you report is hidden from you straight away. When two different accounts report the same fact, it is hidden from everyone until a person reviews it. We may correct or remove any catalog fact.

Pomander, the AI guide

Pomander's answers are generated by an AI model. They are suggestions, not expert advice, and they can be confidently wrong about the house, the name, the concentration, the volume, and the batch code and anything else. Check anything that matters.

Pomander will not give medical advice. Ask it about your wardrobe and it is in its element; ask it about your skin or your health and it will tell you to ask a doctor.

Pomander can search the web to answer questions about specific bottles, and will show the pages it used. Those pages belong to other people: we do not control or endorse them, and a page being cited does not make it correct. Links open outside the app under those sites' own terms.

AI features have fair-use limits per account, including how often Pomander may search the web. We may adjust those limits to keep the service reliable and affordable, and the app shows you where you stand before you spend a request.

Bottle information

The shared catalog, which grows from facts other users enter, and anything a label scan pulls off a photo, are provided for convenience and can be wrong or out of date. Always check the bottle in front of you. A scan result is always shown to you for review before it is saved; it never saves itself.

Acceptable use

Do not misuse the app: no attempting to reach other users' data, no probing or disrupting the service, no reverse engineering, no automated scraping, and no using the AI features to produce unlawful or harmful content.

Free, Pro and AI credits

The journal is free and stays free. So does The Wardrobe, with no cap on how many bottles you can track. So does exporting it to CSV.

Scent & Note is free to use. Pro, a one-time purchase, adds My nose, the season review and photos on every wear. AI features (Pomander, label scans and Today's pick) run on AI credits. You get 3 free credits to try them, and 10 in total once you create a free account. The Pro purchase adds 25 more credits, once.

There are no ads in Scent & Note, on any tier, and there never will be.

Purchases

Pro is a one-time purchase billed through your Apple Account or Google Play account. You pay once, and you can restore it on a new phone with the same store account. Credit packs are consumable purchases.

Credits never expire. They belong to your account in this app only, they cannot be moved to another app or person, and they have no cash value. If you use the app without an account, your credits are kept only for that sign-in, so deleting the app or signing out loses them. Create a free account to keep them safe.

The price is shown before you buy. Refunds are handled by Apple or Google under their terms, and we cannot issue one directly. When a purchase is refunded, the credits it added are removed (never below zero), and a refunded Pro purchase removes Pro.

Deleting your account forfeits any unused credits.

Disclaimers

Scent & Note is provided "as is", without warranties of any kind. To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential damages arising from your use of the app, and our total liability is limited to what you paid us in the twelve months before the claim.

Not skin or health advice

Pomander knows your wardrobe, not your skin. It answers from what you have logged and what your labels print. It cannot tell you whether a fragrance is safe for you. If you have a reaction, talk to a doctor or pharmacist.

Scent & Note and Pomander do not say that any fragrance is safe, hypoallergenic, allergen-free, or suitable for sensitive skin, pregnancy or children. Ingredients are shown exactly as printed and are never checked for allergens.

Scent & Note does not promise that any fragrance will get you compliments, make you more attractive, or have any effect on other people.

Termination

You can stop using Scent & Note whenever you like and delete your account in Profile → Account settings. We may suspend or close accounts that break these terms.

Changes

We may update these terms; the date above reflects the latest version. Material changes will be noted in the app, and continued use after a change means you accept the updated terms.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Maryland and the applicable laws of the United States, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Any dispute not resolved informally will be brought in the state or federal courts in Maryland, and you and we each consent to their jurisdiction. Nothing here removes a consumer-protection right you have under the mandatory law of your own country or state of residence.
